Gardening on the Coast, Christine Kelway

Christine Kelway’s Gardening on the Coast provides those much needed words of wisdom for gardening in places where the sun doesn’t always shine and the shoots don’t necessarily grow up in straight lines. But for its challenges, the book also highlights the advantages, such as the varieties of plants too tender for inland gardens. Drawing on her extensive first hand experience, the book looks at both these problems and rewards of coastal gardening.

Christine Kelway is the author of Gardening on the Coast, Gardening on Sand and Seaside Gardening as well as many gardening articles for various publications. Daughter of the well-known horticulturist James Kelway, she had a wide personal experience of the making and maintenance of seaside gardens.
