The Snow Geese, William Fiennes

Snow-Geese-William-Fiennes.JPG

The Snow Geese is the story of William Fiennes’ time spent alongside million-strong flocks of snow geese on their spring flight from Texas to their breeding grounds on the Arctic tundra. With vivid descriptions of the birds, their habits and movements, Fiennes brilliantly ignites a curiosity and awe around these remarkable birds and their migrations.

William Fiennes is an English author best known for his memoirs The Snow Geese (2002) and The Music Room (2009). Educated at Eton College and Oxford University, Fiennes released The Snow Geese to wide acclaim in 2002 — the book was shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize and won the Hawthornden Prize and the Somerset Maugham Award.

Alongside Katie Waldegrave, William Fiennes is co-founder of the charity First Story which supports creativity and literacy in schools serving low-income communities across England. First Story currently runs writer-in-residence programmes in 70 schools.
