Land Ahoy, Shona Robin MacPherson

Land Ahoy is a project by artist Shona Robin MacPherson, which began while onboard Yacht Selkie around the Shetland and Orkney Islands. The work is a trace of a transient experience, and a map of her own journey through the perspectives of the local people she met along the way. The end product is a 30 page book which documents the favourite views of the islanders as watercolour paintings. The paintings themselves were sent back to islanders so all that remains is the book.

Shona Robin MacPherson is one half of Must Use Critical Knowledge (MUCK), who hosted a walking workshop with The Nature Library inspired by the works of Rebecca Solnit and Donna Haraway, Field Notes on Adrift-ness. She is currently exploring the potential of both wool and soap as mediums for articulating ecofeminist ideas at the interface of domesticity and ecology.
